  • What’s a Tuk Tuk?

What is a Tuk Tuk? You may know them from the streets of Bangkok or Portugal —they are the sassy open-air, three-wheeled vehicles zipping around town.  While many Tuk Tuks are electric, in San Miguel the hills and cobblestone streets need some extra giddy-up, so we are using a small gas powered engine with very low emissions and very little impact on the environment.

They handle hills like a champ and navigate easily to spots where buses are not allowed or have difficulty maneuvering.

You will love getting up close and personal in San Miguel from inside your Lucky Tuk!

  • Are children allowed in a Lucky Tuk? Is this tour good for children?

At Lucky Tuk, we strive to be a family-friendly operation. Our guides are trained to ensure everyone is safely Tuk’d in as well as having a great time! Lucky Tuks are not equipped or suitable for car seats at this time, so keep that in mind when booking with us.

Otherwise, Lucky Tuk Tours are fun for the whole family.

  • Why should I travel with Lucky Tuk vs a Hop on Hop off Tour Bus or Taxis?

We think our little Tuk Tuks are so much more fun than those crowded buses or hard to get into taxis.  But if that is not a good enough reason, consider this: Hop On Hop Off buses are not allowed in a lot of the Centro neighborhoods.  In buses or taxis, you will surely miss a lot of the sites and hidden gems of our city that only a Lucky Tuk can get to.  Plus, you do not have to wait around for your Lucky Tuk to fill up! We leave when you are safely Tuk’d in the back! Let’s Tuk!

  • How many people can fit in a Lucky Tuk?

Our Tuks come in two sizes:  Lil Tuk seats 2-3 people comfortably, our Big Tuk seats up to 4-5 comfortably.  Because we have two sizes, you will never be grouped with people you don’t know (unless you want to be, San Miguel is a VERY friendly city, after all).

  • Should I tip my guide at the end of the tour?

Our guides are included in the price of the tour but if you receive great service, we encourage you to show your appreciation with a tip. Also, please be sure to mention your guide’s name in any reviews as well.  We are a customer focused company and your feedback will help us to continually improve our performance.

  • What happens if it rains during the tour?

Rainy season in San Miguel is typically June – September.  While most visitors tend to avoid our city during that time, don’t let a little rain stop you from visiting.   All of our vehicles are equipped with drop down windows and umbrellas aboard! Our top priority is passenger safety, so in the event of a huge rain storm, we will cancel the tour and help you reschedule or provide a full refund.

  • What is the food and drink policy?

Due to laws in Mexico, no open containers of alcohol are permitted on board the Lucky Tuk. On our custom or specialty tours, one bottle of water per customer is provided. And please, no smoking.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

All tours can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. No-shows and late arrivals are not refunded or rescheduled.

  • What should I bring?

San Miguel can have four seasons in one day, literally, so dress in layers. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen can come in handy if you decide to go “topless” in your Lucky Tuk. There is minimal storage in the Tuk, so strollers, bulky backpacks, and boring members of your party should be left at the hotel.  All personal items must be stored in your lap.

  • Do you offer gift certificates?

We sure do!  On any of our tour pages, you can click the gift certificate button to purchase a Lucky Tuk Tour as a gift. What a perfect idea for your guests!

  • Is there an opportunity to get out of the vehicle along the tour?

Yep!  Just ask your Lucky Tuk driver to pull over if something has caught your eye.  As time permits, we offer multiple opportunities to get out, take pictures, or walk around sites.

  • Are the vehicles equipped to handle storage of strollers,
    wheelchairs, luggage, or walkers?

Unfortunately not.  Also, please keep in mind that our vehicles have a step to get in and out of
them.

  • Does the tour require any strenuous activity?

Part of the charm of San Miguel is the cobblestone streets, but walking them for even an hour can be exhausting and a little tricky.  Please note that the vehicles do have a high step, so tour participants must be able to step in and out of the vehicles.  Your driver is willing and able to assist your safe entry and exit!
